BMC Tel Hai is looking for an experienced storage administrator to Install, test, implement, maintain, enhance, interface and support storage management products such as IBM DFSMS, IBM HSM, MAINVIEW SRM subsystems, and infrastructure applications and/or associated facilities. The storage administrator will monitor and maintain installed storage capacity to insure efficient, cost-effective utilization; provide for hardware and software configurations to meet R&D requirements; maintain system and data backup copies to protect BMC against loss of data.
Responsibilities include: Installs, tests, implements, maintains, enhances, interfaces and supports operating systems, subsystems, and infrastructure applications and/or associated facilities, including IBM products, BMC products and other ISV products. Provides customer support for users of the software and subsystems. Build and support subsystems for use by all R&D. Provide and support demo environments for all products used by the software consultants and international consultants. Implement IBM PUT maintenance monthly to keep mainframe systems at the latest PUT levels. Perform problem analysis and work with IBM to resolve problems on all supported subsystems. Provide R&D assistance in resolving z/OS problems with their own subsystems. Communicate effectively with R&D users and management levels. Manage multiple, simultaneous tasks. Work with R&D Mainframe Support group to test operating system and program products to insure compatibility with vendor-supplied changes. Participate in vendor early ship/early support programs as needed. Implement new hardware and software technologies as required. Participate in BMC beta/early ship/early support programs whenever possible and feasible. Support BMC disaster recovery/business continuity programs as directed.
Job Requirements: experience with one or more of the following: IBM DS88xx, EMC and Hitachi Data Systems disk storage, IBM TS77xx and EMC DLm virtual tape subsystems, Brocade or IBM storage directors. Knowledge of z/OS internals, z/VM Hypervisor, JES2/JES3 internals, UNIX Systems Services, TCP/IP, SNA, VTAM, Real and Virtual sysplex environments. Familiarity with CICS, DB2, IMS as well as TSO, CLIST, REXX and ISPF. Knowledge of and proficiency with installation, configuration and maintenance processes. Expert knowledge of and proficiency with IBM products and utilities; prefer strong experience with BMC utilities. Develops documentation and provides knowledge transfer to peers. Participating in project teams as subject matter expert, relating to the support of existing technologies and the selection and implementation of new technologies. Ability to remain calm, cordial, and effective during the resolution of time critical system interruptions/difficulties/failures. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Thorough problem-solving skills, a demonstrated ability to work issues to resolution, and independent work habits are necessary requirements. Five or more years of systems support background, including a working knowledge of using SMP/E to apply IBM maintenance. z/VM/CMS skills are not essential, but helpful.
